Mud Hen is the nickname of a unique bird also known as the American Coot.
I was looking through the different animals and their characteristics when I came across the American Coot. This bird was listed under “Endurance”, which it demonstrates by uniting together with other Coots when it feels threatened. Well, that was pretty much exactly what I was trying to do with this business – to collectively stand firm against our culture which is constantly pushing against biblical truths. A place where like-minded people can find resources for their family to help them establish foundational biblical truths in their children. What better way than through books?
Since I’m a mom of 10 children, I want our children to have firm convictions that are based on Biblical truths, and I know I’m not alone. But to be honest, it can sometimes feel as if we ARE alone with all that is reported through social media and the news. I get it. And that’s why Mud Hen Mama (MHM) was created. For people who want to have great books that support their values and establish those convictions in their children.
So let’s link arms, my friends! And get yourself some great MHM books.
Statement of Faith
1. The Bible
I believe the Bible, consisting of the Old and New Testaments, is the inspired, infallible, and authoritative Word of God, the final rule for faith and practice.
2 Timothy 3:16–17 – “All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.”
Psalm 119:105 – “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.”
2 Peter 1:20–212. The Trinity
I believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—coequal and coeternal.
Matthew 28:19 – “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.”
2 Corinthians 13:14
Deuteronomy 6:43. Jesus Christ
I believe in the full deity and humanity of Jesus Christ, His virgin birth, sinless life, miracles, substitutionary death on the cross, bodily resurrection, ascension to the right hand of the Father, and His personal return in power and glory.
John 1:1, 14 – “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God… And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us.”
1 Corinthians 15:3–4
Acts 1:9–114. Salvation
I believe that all people are sinners and separated from God by sin. Salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone. All who repent and believe in Jesus Christ are born again by the Holy Spirit and become children of God.
Ephesians 2:8–9 – “For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.”
Romans 3:23
John 3:16–185. The Holy Spirit
I believe the Holy Spirit indwells every believer, empowering them for godly living, spiritual growth, and service. The Spirit convicts the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment.
John 14:16–17
Acts 1:8
Galatians 5:22–236. The Church
I believe in the universal Church, the body of Christ, composed of all true believers. The local church is a community of believers who gather for worship, teaching, fellowship, and mission.
Ephesians 4:4–6
Hebrews 10:24–25
Matthew 28:18–207. Baptism and the Lord’s Supper
I believe that baptism is an outward sign of an inward reality, reserved for believers as a testimony of faith and obedience to Christ. The Lord’s Supper is a memorial of Christ’s sacrifice, open to all believers.
Romans 6:3–4
Matthew 28:19
1 Corinthians 11:23–268. The Return of Christ and Eternity
I believe in the personal, visible return of Jesus Christ to judge the living and the dead. Believers will spend eternity in the presence of God, while those who reject Christ will be eternally separated from Him.
John 14:1–3
1 Thessalonians 4:16–17
Revelation 20:11–15
