What’s New Behind the Scenes at Mud Hen Mama!

I haven’t shared what we’ve been working on at the MHM online bookstore in quite a while! So I want to update everyone with all of the details.

Updates

First, over the past few weeks, we’ve been able to add quite a few more books to the bookstore. We now have over 2,600 titles! If you haven’t gone to SHOP, go now and check out all of the new additions!

Additionally, a couple of months ago, we updated the main SHOP page. You can get an idea of what we have to offer in each of the main categories broken down by age/grade level. We also included a few curated lists of books as well. Just scroll down on that SHOP page, and you will see several different lists.

Finally, you can browse using the search functionality (as always but with a couple more tags!). Once you click on a product or curated list on the SHOP page, you will see the filtering/searching options to the right of the page. You can search the various categories or tags, or you can search for a specific title or author.

Wait, this is too much info!

If this all seems extremely overwhelming, we have got the perfect solution for you! We also offer The Family Book Savings Club, which is awesome for those children (or YOURSELF) who are avid readers and love great books! The Book Club can be curated to your family’s preferences too! Just think about all the time you will save by not having to find books that you or your child would like, and then making sure there isn’t an undermining agenda that you don’t want to have to deal with! PLUS, each membership is discounted! Additionally the more memberships you purchase (i.e. for various ages), the bigger the discount!

To make this deal even better, there is no locked in obligation. That means you can cancel at any time!

Here is a recommendation from one of our Family Book Savings Club members:

Our family LOVES our subscription to the family book club.  Even my husband eagerly awaits our monthly delivery.  I am a busy mama of five plus one foster baby, so this subscription is such a blessing to me.  Wholesome books for my entire family arrive at my door with no extra work for me. Michelle spends great care picking books that fit our family and our children’s different interests and levels.  My family is reading and I am one happy mama. Not a month goes by that I don’t hear, “wow! That was a really great book. Thanks, Mom”.  Thank YOU, Mud Hen Mama!

This would be a great gift in general, but what an incredible Christmas gift! Or of course, our book bundles also give you some great options as well.

The importance of good books

Books are so incredibly important. They are like food. If we consume books that are silly and foolish, it’s the equivalent of Cheetos for the brain. Those books may seem great and entertaining at first, only to feel the less than stellar repercussions later. We are left with not a whole lot to chew on, even after finishing an entire series. But if we fill ourselves with stories that not only entertain and are interesting, but teach us something that is good, beautiful, and/or true, we can be well nourished – not just intellectually, but emotionally and spiritually as well.

If we take care of what we put into our bodies, we should be just as careful, if not more so, about what we’re putting into our minds and our children’s minds. If you think about it, our minds can’t get rid of bad ideas quite as easily as our bodies get rid of bad food. So it makes sense that we inherently need to be more diligent about what we spend our time reading.

Not just bad books anymore

And as we all know, in many cases it’s not just bad books that we’re dealing with right now. It’s poisonous books that either normalize what never should be, or teach rebellion against God’s order and will, with seductive sounding words like, “Follow your heart” or “You deserve this” to name a few.

I pray we always try to fill our hearts and minds with what will edify each one of us in the body of Christ. And that we will be brought closer to Him in the process.

Preferences are not bad

Some of us like apples and others of us prefer a burger, and that’s OK. In just the same way, some of us like mysteries and others of us biographies. Also OK. That’s why there aren’t 10 books in the MHM bookstore, but +2,600! Variety is not a bad thing. But heterodoxy is.

So shop MHM books! And share us with your family and friends!
