I am so thankful to be able to add so many great books to our bookstore! This is yet another book that I thought was incredibly beautiful and well done. My Forever Home by Becky Strahle describes what heaven may be like, based on various Scripture verses throughout the Bible.
The first thing that jumps out at you when you pick up My Forever Home are the illustrations. They are so creative, bright, and just lovely! And it only gets better from there! Once you actually read the book in its entirety, you realize there’s also a lot of substance to the book.
I love the foreshadowing of heaven, and the descriptions that follow. Clearly heaven can’t be described, but using the word of God and her artistic talent, I think Strahle did a wonderful job giving us lots to think about and imagine.
Beauty
Sometimes beauty has been presented to us as something that is vain and that we shouldn’t think about too much. As if it doesn’t matter and it’s not anything we should appreciate or spend time cultivating. But I love that this book embraces the beauty that the LORD lavishly gives us on this earth, which is just a shadow of what is yet to come. Strahle incorporates animals, trees, sea animals, just to name a few things, in her artwork. She is able to show the vast amount of beauty that is right before our eyes, both in exotic places as well as just around the corner.
I think it’s so important to be reminded of the beauty that surrounds us. But what’s even better is what we have to look forward to as Believers in Christ is beyond words better.
Heaven
Strahle uses the beautiful things of this earth to point to the God Who created it all. And she skillfully incorporates what the Word of God has said about heaven, reflecting the sentiments communicated in His Word throughout every page of this book.
Another unique touch to this book is that each illustration represents a special place that Strahle has visited (all of the pictures are included in the back of the book). All are absolutely gorgeous. They are pictures that reflect God’s creativity and love of beautiful things. And each sentence throughout the pages of the book reference back to several verses in Scripture. What a great way to think more deeply about God’s Word.
Just wow. This is a wonderful way to present what heaven must be like to both young and old. Get yourself a copy, and get a few copies for your friends and family. My Forever Home is well worth it!
